About the Artist

Luminous, rich, mysterious, inventive, lyrical - Fogg-Willits' work is a testament to a young artist with a larger and deeper vision. She describes her paintings as a visual record of events in her life - a form of personal storytelling placed in the context of cycles in the natural environment. The events run the gamut from the small ("the drip of water that makes the front stoop icy at night") to the idiosyncratic ("a visual map of the neighborhood I like to take walks in") to the humorously personal ("the pride in fixing my broken toilet after three hours on the bathroom floor"). According to the artist, "in addition to each of these daily narratives, buried within each piece is a fascination with the passage of time, of how the world and environment change and renew, and of how the cyclical quality of nature that I see in the garden or in the moon can be observed in my own life."

Born in 1980, Lindsay Fogg-Willits moved to Northampton as a young child where she attended local schools before heading to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY where she received her BS in Art in 2002. After moving back to Northampton that year, she opened Art Always: an arts program for children, teenagers and adults based in Florence, MA.

In addition to her work at Art Always, Lindsay taught as a public high school art teacher from 2003 – 2007 before leaving to pursue Art Always and her work as a fine artist, full time. She is also the Administrative Director of Deerfield Academy Summer Arts program, a teacher at the Hill Institute in Florence, MA and a frequent visiting artist to local schools and programs including her recent participation in a grant-based art program for inmates at the Hampshire County House of Correction in Northampton, MA. Lindsay shows her work at the Oxbow Gallery in Northampton, MA. She has also exhibited at Ferrin Gallery in Pittsfield, MA, Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Hosmer and APE Galleries in Northampton and the Schick Gallery in Saratoga Springs.

About the Gallery

Les Hauts de Font Moure, once a well-known bed and breakfast is now the private home of Claude and Dinah Teulet. Located where the vines of Bordeaux meet those of Cognac, in the gently rolling hills above the Gironde estuary, this beautiful private home now welcomes artists for private showings. The home has also been written up by 'Votre Maison Votre Jardin' Magazine in the Feb/March 2008 issue for it's one-of-a-kind collection of antiques.
